How it's done

Unroll a section of toilet paper across a visible location like a bathroom counter or shelf. Write a joke directly on the paper with a marker — the source example reads "Why didn't the toilet roll cross the road? 'Coz it got stuck in a crack… your BUTT CRACK!" Position both elves sitting on or beside the unrolled paper. This requires minimal setup and creates immediate visual humor for children.

Pets in the house?

Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.

Why this works

Bathroom scenes lean into universal kid humor (toilets, toothpaste, bubbles). They're memorable, they clean up fast, and they always get a laugh. At difficulty 1, this scene is specifically designed to be set up in under two minutes. Busy nights are why this one exists.

Variations

  • Bigger-kid twist: For an older crowd that sees through simple scenes, step up to Cereal-Filled Toilet — same room, cleverer setup.

If it doesn't go to plan

If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy") — the discovery is the point.
