Toilet Paper Tube Stair Slide
How it's done
Collect empty toilet paper tubes and flatten them slightly. Arrange the tubes in a winding path down a flight of stairs, creating a "sled track" effect. Position your elf at the top or middle of the staircase as if sliding down through the tubes. You can secure the tubes loosely with tape if needed to keep them in place along the stairs.
Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.
Why this works
Staircase scenes turn the whole flight into a stage. A candy-cane zip line or TP-tube sled uses the geometry of a normal space in a way kids never expect. Difficulty 2 means it uses items you already own and takes about five minutes — quick but visibly intentional.
If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy") — the discovery is the point.
