How it's done

Unroll toilet paper in long strands throughout a room, draping it across furniture, doorways, and walls like festive streamers. The goal is to create a whimsical, chaotic scene. Position your elf in the center or corner of the decorated space as if responsible for the paper everywhere. This works best in a contained area like a bathroom or bedroom.

You'll need

  • toilet paper rolls

Pets in the house?

Trailing toilet paper at floor level is irresistible to pets and can cause GI blockage if ingested.

Why this works

Bathroom scenes lean into universal kid humor (toilets, toothpaste, bubbles). They're memorable, they clean up fast, and they always get a laugh. Difficulty 2 means it uses items you already own and takes about five minutes — quick but visibly intentional.

Variations

  • Pet-safe version: Try Elf Toilet Paper Snowmen — same idea, but no chocolate, loose candy, or floor-level hazards. Swap the elements that worry you and keep the rest.
  • Bigger-kid twist: For an older crowd that sees through simple scenes, step up to Cereal-Filled Toilet — same room, cleverer setup.

If it doesn't go to plan

If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy") — the discovery is the point.
