Wine Tasting Thimble
How it's done
Fill a thimble with grape juice, apple juice, or colored water to resemble wine. Create a small folded paper menu listing imaginary wines or festive drinks. Place a tiny cracker or cookie beside the thimble as an accompaniment. Position your elf beside the setup as if enjoying a sophisticated tasting experience, perhaps holding the thimble or admiring it thoughtfully.
Should be fine around pets as long as you place it out of reach.
Why this works
Dining-room scenes own the breakfast reveal — kids are already sitting down to eat when they spot the elf holding court over the table. Difficulty 2 means it uses items you already own and takes about five minutes — quick but visibly intentional.
If it doesn't go to plan
If the elf ends up too well-hidden and the kids can't find it, nudge them with a vague hint ("Looks like our elf went somewhere cozy") — the discovery is the point.
